Thursday

My plans to sleep in were ruined by mind insisting it was time to get up.  Sometimes I have no control over it.  Might as well get up and work out, if I can't sleep.

For Time:
1200m Run or Row
25 KBS 70/55/35/25
25 Sit-ups ab-mat unanchored
25 Push-ups
1200m Row or Run (opposite of last)
25 KBS 70/55/35/25
25 Sit-ups
25 Push-ups
800m Run or Row (opposite of last)
25 KBS 70/55/35/25
25 Sit-ups
25 Push-ups
800m Row or Run (opposite of last)
25 KBS 70/55/35/25
25 Sit-ups
25 Push-ups

My time:  43:37, Rx

Rx is a little misleading, as there was no true "Rx" today.  But, I ran, I did 35# kettlebell, I did legit sit ups, and I did legit push ups so...I'm going with Rx here.

This was just a good old fashioned CF workout.  Set your mind to it and get it done, piece by piece.  I was slower than probably everyone else at the gym for the entire day (willing to bet on it).  But glad I did it.  My running is slow, but I am in no pain whatsoever, so PT and stretching is the key.

I did a few double-unders after the WOD just to see how it felt.  Doubles are in the first WOD for Battle Over Red Lands.

She's ALIVE!

Hello.

Anybody out there?

Well, I'm back.  For now anyway.  Just thought I'd add a little spark of life to this dying blog while I"m feeling enthused.

Today I gutted up and signed up for Battle Over Redlands IV!

I have had a rough year, starting with all that respiratory crap January through March.  Then made a slight come back in April to run the Aquarium 5k and ended up with a stress fracture.  Got that healed up and then had some issues with my calf muscles/achilles tendonits.  Anyway, here we are in October and I'm feeling pretty decent.  Not back full force on double unders yet, but I'll suck it up and do them for this competition.  It'll be fun.  Ha!

I'll try to start blogging my WODs on a regular basis again, if only to motivate myself.  Doubt I have a single reader left at this point.

Pyramid Double Hell(en)

This, I believe, is the first time I've ever done this workout.

I enjoy regular old Helen - it's a quick but challenging workout.  But this...this is just a damn beat-down.

PYRAMID DOUBLE “HELEN” CF Games WOD 2010
For time:
Run 1200 meters
63 Kettlebell swings (Men 55 lbs, Women 35 lbs)
36 Pull-ups
Run 800 meters
42 Kettlebell swings (Men 55 lbs, Women 35 lbs)
24 Pull-ups
Run 400 meters
21 Kettlebell swings (Men 55 lbs, Women 35 lbs)
12 Pull-ups
Within 90 seconds of completing Pyramid Double “Helen:”
1 rep max Shoulder-to-Overhead from Rack **can use front or back rack

My time:  38:45, Rx

Finisher:  105#

I started to scale, but figured, what the heck.  I need the exercise.  I tried to calculate how long it would take me and came up with 40 minutes.  I was glad I finished in under that time, but I still didn't make the 35 min cut-off.  I had to go to my happy place in my mind and keep chipping away at the reps until I finished.  I only had the energy for one lift after that, and went with a number I knew was a sure thing.

Great day to be alive!  :)

Hello Again!

Can't seem to keep up with this blog.  I've been a busy girl this summer!  Since I last wrote on here, I've been on two lovely trips to the Virgin Islands.  The first one was entirely a leisure trip with friends.  We went on a crewed catamaran charter and enjoyed lots of island time.

Here we are on day 1, ready to set sail

.

The second trip was more of a working vacation (with strangers).  We still went ashore and had some good meals and drinks, but we were learning to sail on this trip.  It was hard work every day, learning every aspect of the boat from the engines to raising the sails and learning to use the wind to your advantage, studying and taking tests.  I am now have 4 sailing certificates, ASA 101, 103, 104 and 114.  Basically I'm now qualified to captain a 50' catamaran!  Woo hoo!  You're never too old to learn!

Here is the crew at the end of the school week:

Anyway, I'm back at CrossFit and feeling pretty decent.  Today's WOD was way more pull ups than I can do in 20 minutes but I took a good stab at it!

“2007″ CF Games WOD 2007 & 2013 & 2014 Masters WOD
For time:
1000 Meter row
then
5 rounds of:
25 Pull-ups
7 Push jerk (Men 135 lbs, Women 95 lbs)

I actually did this as an AMRAP, 'cause no way I can get 125 pull ups that fast.

My rounds:  2 + 20 pull ups

Strength today was push Jerk or Split Jerk
4@ 85
3 @ 105
2 @ 125
1 @ 135 (f)
1 @ 135!
