So Excited!!

I'll be glued to my computer all weekend - I intend to keep the live feed of The Games up and running so I can keep an eye on all the action. Breck Berry, the owner and coach of CrossFit Jenks, is competing in the games for his fourth time. He is one of just a small group of people to have competed in every CF Games. I know he'll do well, and can't wait to see how it all turns out! Though I will never be the elite athlete that the Games competitors are, I am certainly addicted to all that is CrossFit, and inspired by every second of the competition. Let the games begin!!!


In Breck's absence, some of the classes were canceled, one of them being the 5 am. Ginny King, Certified CrossFit Badass and trainer at CF Jenks, is leading several classes. But the class schedule didn't fit my schedule, so I suggested running at 5 am. (I don't blame you for not getting up that early Ginny!!) Several of the 5am regulars showed up to run this morning. We intended to do a 5k, and did just a tiny bit more. Oh, and I'm using the term "run" loosely. This was really more of a leisurely "jog". Here are the stats and a map:

Got out and ran this afternoon, as planned. It was H-O-T outside. Need to figure out how to do my supplemental running in the morning times. Or suck it up and get used to the heat. Got home from my run, made it to the back yard with a towel in hand and did a cold plunge in the pool. Water temp is 70 degrees - yikes! But it felt soooo good for about 5 minutes.

Good Day, Sunshine!

Driving home I realized what a great day it was for a run, so I headed out for a 2 mile hill run. I was slow, but felt pretty good throughout. Only about half a mile of this route is flat - the rest of it is hills - 98 feet of climb in the entire run. Hopefully these hills will make my "flat" run times faster.

Run on Sunday

I recently got a new app for my iphone and an arm-band to hold it while I run. The app is called Runmeter and you can export all the data from your run to an excel spreadsheet, or in just a summary. It also maps the route for you and you can export a google map. If you name the route, you can re-run it and the app keeps record of your best/worst/median times for that particular route. It also counts calories burned, but I'm a bit skeptical of the accuracy of that. Anyway, overall, it's pretty cool.

Also,since I'm running hills, I like that it keeps track of elevation changes, as well. This run had 98 feet of climb in it!
